The life in a cave part 2: Breckenridge!
March 22, 2013 at 19:48 | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentTags: Breclenridge, concussion, ski, twin tip
Here comes finally the second part of The life in a cave….So after a hard trip it’s was nice to be back at Breck again! I stayed in Breck for three long weeks before I went home to Sweden.
Hey, can you see me?
This is what I did most of the time, laying in my dark bedroom listening to audiobooks!
This 3 weeks was a very emotional time for me. Except that I was sad for missing skiing, and all the events I was suppose to do: X-games, Dew Tour and a film trip with K2, I felt very alone.
When the others went to the slope I had to stay at home , and when they got back after a day at the mountain I had to lock me in my room with earplugs to get away from their noices. It’s strange that you can feel more alone when you live together with friends than if you would have been completly alone.
When the people around you are very active it always reminds you that you can’t be a part of it!
During this year i think I have learned a little how it is to be outside or oat least I got a little feeling of it. I could not hang with my friends and take part of their activities because of my head but it most be even worse to not be wanted in the group.
Now it’s time for pictures!
While Atti and Nina watched X-games they braided my hair! I had this thing for my eyes so I couldn’t look at the scream.
Happy with my new braids until the doctor told me that they could make my headache worse. I took them away but the head was still the same.
In the end of the trip I was feeling better and did some more activities but for sure I did to much. At this time I didn’t understand that I got symptoms from just doing mellow stuff so it was very easy to do too much. Because my brain was so tired all the time and I had a lot of headace it was hard to no exactly what kind of stuff that I got symptoms from.
Here is me making a Bob Marley shoblon om ny skateboard.
This dosen’t look so bad!
On my way home from Avalanche Physio in Frisco. They were really nice and knowledgeable about concussions there.
Me and Jonte trying to make me heal fast with some indian dance.
Check out what Anna, Brita and Lexi did at the k2 trip that I missed out!
The life in a cave, Part 1: Killington
March 18, 2013 at 23:01 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 CommentsFor those of you who don’t know I’m still not good after my crash in Dew Tour last year. It’s now fourteen months since I got the concussion and I think it’s time to tell you a little bit about it.
The trip to Killington in Vermont didn’t start so well for me. I got a stomach bug a couple of days before we were suppose to head of to Kilington from Breckenridge. Even if I didn’t trough up I can just say It wasn’t the best travel day in my life but I didn’t know then that the trip home was going to be a lot worse!
At least I was happy for the camera with my new monkey friend Cockiscoco
With no energy, and lost ski bags the condition for success was not the best. Here are the Shred O’rama girls Nina, Emma and me with my borrowed skis!

All the girls went to the semifinals and luckily I got my own skis ready for that!
The speed this morning was not so good and at the practice I could just clear the first jump switch so I was not sure if it was a good idea to hit the jump switch in the competition. But in the second run I did a switch 540 anyway, and I think it most have been even worse speed then. I came up short and bounced out into the landing, facing forward, and landed with the head first.
After the crash I wanted to ski down by my self but as I was really dizzy I couldn’t quite stand up. I went down in a sled instead. Afterwords, Nina told me that I waved and smiled against her and at that point she didn’t understand what have happend. After a while I became sad and really afried, and didn’t know where I was. So just like a “normal” concussion I was really confused and disorientated. Slowly I got all the memory back except from the crash and a couple of hours after. The CT scann didn’t showed anything wrong which was really good.
Here is Emma flying high in the finals!
A few days before my crashed I got a invite for X-games in Aspen. I was so sad when I realized I couldn’t compete in X-games! But If I knew I was going to be missing my whole social life for one year I would not have been sad for just missing out one competition!
Oh and why didn’t the doctor stop me from flying back to Breck! If you ever got a concussion stay at home at least one week in a silent and dark room!
With sunglasses and earplugs it was at least a little bit better.
and good friends of course that took care of me! I found this funny sign which fitted in well!
If you haven’t watched Shred O’rama’s webisode from Killington, check it out!
I still have problems to use the computer for my head so thats why the lack of updates! But if my head allows me I will tell you about what I have been doing the last year and how it is to have a Post Concussion Syndrom and for sure other things thats going on. So stay tuned for more updates!

Separate jumps for female athletes?
March 29, 2012 at 19:55 | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentRead about this interesting survey that Kristi Leksinen put together with Kaya Turski n’ Sarah Burke. Is it right that girls jumps the same size of jumps as boys? This survey shows the top athletes opinion. I think it would be great if girls and boys could have separate courses on competitions. It would raise the female level of riding and at the same time it would decrease the number of injuries.

Last week the all girl event Nine Queens was on. This event is one of the few that build a jump that is perfectly adjusted to girls. Hopefully more competitions/events out there will follow up Nine Queens good work and do the same thing in the future!

Bad luck in Killington
February 3, 2012 at 06:32 | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentLast week I was in Killington to participate in Winter Dew Tour. I went there with Emma Niklas and Nina and we were all very excited to our first competition. Still I wasn’t fully restored from my stomach bug, so there was some lack of energy for me, because I still had a lot of problem to eat properly.

Me and Nina on the airport, we wondering where our ski bags where
The trip over there went well all the way until we arrived at the airport in Boston. Me and Nina got the news that our ski bags was still in New York, and our equipment didn’t arrived until after the competition. Although we solved it pretty good as we met some really nice people from a local shop called Black Dog, also K2 helped us out. They lend out equipment to us so we were able to compete!

Dave from Black Dog. Supernice place and guys, thank you so much!

Me, Nina and Emma waiting for the bus. We were living about 15 minutes from the Dew area.
My first competition day was on Thursday’s qualification, but due hard weather conditions and injuries, everyone went through to the semi-finals. The course was tricky but I was excited for the semis. Unfortunately I crashed really bad in on my 2nd run and got a bad concussion. It was very sad as I just found out that I’ve got a spot on X Games in Aspen, but now I missed out on that…

Here is my new travel buddy
Now I have to take it easy for couple of weeks so my head get back on track.

Tomorrow is the Dew Tour qualification! I haven’t had so good start with this trip, first I was stil a bit stick from the stomach bug and then Delta Airlines managed to lost our ski bags. They were suppose to drive them Killington but instead they sent them with Fedex and are now in New York!
Luckily we find the best ski shop in the world named, the Black Dog. The owner were so nice and helped us out so we could get some skis for the comp, and so was Mike Powell at K2! Thank you so much guys!
Tomorrow is the qualification. This K2 Sight are going to be my babies!
Cross your fingers for me!
